| Event Review - Launch of the Suffolk eBusiness Club 2006 |

A lively crowd met at Trinity Park this morning to find out what the new Suffolk eBusiness Club was all about. The morning started with a brief introduction from John Dugmore, CEO of Suffolk Chamber of Commerce. John outlined the importance of Suffolk businesses adoption of eCommerce for the benefit of business in the county.
Catherine Turner, the Club’s Co-ordinator then outlined the philosophy behind the club, its expectations and goals and the event programme.
Businesses that Click was the first presentation from Catherine Turner and Peter Banks of eBusiness Forum Ltd. This double act explained the difference between an IT driven business and eBusiness which provided lots of food for thought amongst many of the attendees.
This initially quiet group of attendees enjoyed a noisy coffee break as got stuck into networking which was followed by a lively presentation from Gary Hill of KeConnect who gave us an run through of the story of KeConnect. KeConnect are our local and extremely successful ISP whose boasts include that they do not have a call centre in India so if you phone them with a question, whether customer or not, you will get good Suffolk service and all the technical assistance you have asked for.
After all the hard hitting stuff it was enlightening to hear Jeremy Shepherd of Powerhouse productions tell us how he developed his site www.bigbandsheetmusic.com to sell full music scores, the expectations he had of the success from the site and how it has brought him unexpected benefits by attracting a number of distributors throughout the world.
Plenty of questions were raised at the end of the event, which could have developed into an interesting forum but due to time we had to cut this short but the topics will be picked up and addressed in future events. This launch event was designed to cover a breadth of topics as an introduction to the rest of the programme which will be focussed on a single topic and drill down into more detail.
Lunch was very good at Trinity Park and many attendees stayed a long while to network and continue to ask questions of our experts. This was a lively event, filled with good speakers who could bring a relaxed style whilst putting across some hard hitting information mixed with humour. The evaluation forms made interesting and varied reading but the overall message was that this was a good start for Suffolk eBusiness Club! |
