New Forum on Security Awareness - 25-Mar-08

A new organisation, the Information Security Awareness Forum (ISAF), has been launched to promote security awareness following recent high profile security breaches. The forum is an umbrella organisation incorporating, the British Computer Society (BCS), Eurim, GetSafeOnline and over a dozen other organisations.

The forum is an initiative of the Information Systems Security Association (ISSA). It was recognised that there was a lack of awareness about information security within the UK at both individual and corporate levels. The purpose of the forum is to coordinate the efforts of member organisations, thereby reducing overlap, and to identify gaps for member organisations to plug.

Early initiatives from the new forum include the "Guide for Directors on Information Security", aimed at senior figures in public and private sector organisations and an Information Security Awareness Week from 21 to 25 April, to coincide with the Infosecurity Europe conference at Olympia in London.

Regrettably, it has not been possible to find an official press release, website or logo for the new organisation. Perhaps someone stole the data!
