Engaging with the Cloud - 10-Dec-09

Imagine running your business without the need to invest up-front in licensing and maintaining computers and software. Imagine running a global on-line business without having to operate any infrastructure at all. Cloud services are a new way of providing computing infrastructure and software on-demand with ‘pay-as-you-go’ plans. Start-ups and those with peaks of demand would find cloud particularly beneficial by eliminating otherwise under-utilised investment. Cloud has the potential to change the economics of doing business and represents a fundamental shift in the way BT and other businesses may operate. ‘Cloud bursting’ for temporary peaks of server demand, for special projects, back up and simply to augment on-premises storage or ‘Software-as-a-service’ in lieu of business applications such as email, payroll and HR can be great alternatives to throwing money and resources at internal infrastructures. BT’s 21CN Cloud technology leverages the gains made through BT’s investment in the 21C Network and we are looking for help to define and develop our infrastructures to best suit market needs.

BT is seeking a small number of local companies to work with us to help define the infrastructures which underpin BT’s 21CN Cloud. Your company is based in Suffolk and close to BT’s premier research and development facility, Adastral Park at Martlesham Heath. If you would be interested to help us shape the future, learn more about cloud and apply it to your business we’d love to hear from you. Please contact Jon Chalmers or Fraser Burton and we’ll be pleased to tell you how we think you can help.

Jon Chalmers can be contacted at jon.chalmers@bt.com or on 01473 629485
